C.E.O. Taki's 2017 beginning of the year address

January 4, 2017

The 2017 New Year's ceremony was held on the 22nd floor of our Nagoya headquarters at 9:15am today. Please see below for C.E.O. Taki's "2017 Beginning of the Year Address".

Happy New Year!

I hope you all welcomed in a brand new year filled with warmth and happiness.

Around 11:30 pm on New Year's Eve, I went out on my veranda to take a look outside. The only sound within complete silence was the ringing of the bells of New Year's Eve and it got me in a solemn mood.

I started thinking why would I be feeling this way. After much thought, I came to the conclusion that it was because I held within me, the concept that another year was coming to an end and with the added auditory perception of the New Year's Eve bells, it became a special moment in time.

I believe that by adding some special event or opportunity to our daily lives, we can bring about changes to how we feel everyday.

You, yourself, must make the first move. Spending everyday as usual, without giving it much thought or making things happen, will not bring about any change.

I ask all of you to throw a stone in the pond and stir the waters. Keep in mind the will to change something within yourselves. I believe that this will allow you to see something different this year in your everyday lives and work.

After 2 years of preparation and with the help of a lot of people, our new core system will be in operation starting today. For the time being, the system itself should adequately function. The bulk flow is not mistaken, everything should flow.

The actions of those who will conduct this new system are of vital importance. This is where proficiency is required. The level of proficiency must be raised as soon as possible in order to prevent confusion.

This year's motto will be "Change and Challenge".

"You will have to want to change. You will change in order to take on a challenge. You will take the initiative. You, yourself, will bring about change, and not change because of others." I hope you will enjoy working this year keeping true to this motto.
